Ubud Writers and Readers Festival Ubud 2024

So many interesting people, stories and writers came together to share their books and creativity at Ubud Writers & Readers festival 2024.

I’ve been going to the festival Since 2017, when I came to Bali and I ended up making Ubud my home. My visa for India ran out and I made a list of places I would love to visit: Mexico, Sedona, Hawaii and Bali. Bali came top, as I had been a few times before and loved it.

Ubud Writers & Readers Festival 2024 was such a very special year for me, as I was invited to talk about my book I Am Alice, Break up, Breakdown, Breakthrough and share my very personal story of transformation. I know, it’s hard to believe, I had to pinch myself many times.

I had always planned to write my memoir about my sudden life changing experience back in 2014, but like many people I was scared to tell my truth, fearing the reactions and criticism. It took me 7 years to have the courage to share my story and I am so glad I did, as many people have been inspired by my story and said reading the book made them feel connected.

I wrote the first draft back in 2015,  I had been journaling a lot as a way of expressing myself and integrating the mess my life was in. I had to write my story for myself, as I could hardly believe what had happened in my life. I felt like the character in The Truman Show that my life had turned in a bad movie. I could hardly what I had been through, and journaling really saved my life and grounded me.
